Norman
L. Lacer - Sunday, September 5
Norman L. Lacer
was born Feb. 2, 1946 in Kansas City, MO. Son of Glen H. & Addie (Fox)
Lacer. He was raised in Carrollton, MO and graduated in 1964 from
Carrollton High School.
He was drafted
into the Army Dec., 1965, did his basic training at Fort Leonard wood,
MO. Second 8 weeks of training was at Fort Sill, OK. There he was
trained in artillery. On Sept. 23, 1966 he shipped out to Vietnam. He
was one of the original members in the 2nd Battalion, 94th Artillery,
Battery “B” and was located less than a mile from the DMZ. He was
honorably discharged from the Army on Sept. 23, 1967, the day he came
home from Vietnam.
He retired from
Caterpillar in Joliet in 1999 and currently drives a school bus for
First Student in Manito, IL.
Norm & his wife
the former Judy Woiwode currently reside in Forest City, where he serves
as Trustee for the Village. Between them, they have 5 children, Greg
Lacer, Denver, CO, Branden Lacer, Grant Park, IL, Jeremy Lacer, Manteno,
IL, Doug Lord, Manito and Camille (Lord) Sanabria of Tampa, FL., 15
grandchildren and 1 great grand daughter.
Norm has also
served as Treas., Vice Pres and President of the Manito-Forest City
Rotary Club and has been awarded the prestigious "Paul Harris Award".
